Backflow Prevention
Backflow valves are used to prevent water from flowing in the opposite direction in a central heating system, working on the same principle as the valves in the human heart, where a reversal of direction immediately causes the valve to close. This valve then relies on a constant pressure applied against it to keep the seal intact.
